Tecno launched its latest Spark series phone, the Tecno Spark 7, on 9 April 2021. The phone is part of the budget Spark series which is very popular in the African smartphone market especially in Nigeria. The Tecno Spark series is popular in Nigeria as it offers affordable phones which also come with fairly good specs. Tecno has not yet launched the Spark 7 in Nigeria but considering Nigeria takes the biggest share of its African market, it won’t take long before it is launched in the country. The phone is sold in local mobile stores and Tecno Mobile phone stores spread across towns and cities. In Nigeria, the Spark 7 goes for around NGN 35,600.
It comes in 3 colors. These are Morpheus Blue, Spruce Green, and Magnet Black. Just like in previous Spark series models, the back cover is made of plastic and so is the body. Due to this, I would advise using the phone with a rubber or plastic back cover. Also, the screen on the Spark series doesn’t really come with any type of screen protection, (corning gorilla glass) which makes it break easily on dropping. The same case applies to the Spark 7 and therefore installing a screen guard should be within your budget. The price of a screen guard is around NGN 1000 in any mobile store in Nigeria and should be a reason why you should start to replace your whole display once the whole screen is cracked.

If you’re on the Tecno Spark 6, don’t buy the Tecno Spark 7. The reason I’m saying this is because the Tecno Spark 6 is far much better compared to the Spark 7. The Tecno Spark 6 has a bigger display, more RAM, a faster processor, and fast charging. All the other features are the same as those on the Spark 7 including the camera. The only difference is that the Tecno Spark 7 has the latest Android 11 which doesn’t have much difference to the Android 10.
Tecno just decided to play dumb and release a phone which has weaker specs although we all expected it would an upgrade. If you’re going to upgrade to the latest Tecno Spark 7, the only things you’re going to get is Android 11 and a bigger battery which will be a pain as it doesn’t support fast charging which means you have to wait hours for you to even get a half-charged battery. The Spark 7 is not worth your money as an upgrade.
