The Xiaomi Mi Mix Fold is the first-ever Xiaomi foldable phone. The phone is the first of a generation of foldable phones to be produced by Xiaomi just like the Galaxy Fold was for Samsung. However, the Mi Mix Fold has a low price tag compared to its rival, the Galaxy Z Fold 2. It even offers some better specs in some sections. It uses a big screen on the outside and a smaller screen on the inside. The Mi Mix Fold comes in 2 colors, Black and Ceramic just like the Mi 11 Ultra.

Full Specifications and Features
The Mi Mix Fold has an aluminum body. The front (when folded) is made of glass and when unfolded it has a plastic front. The back is made of glass that is protected using Corning Gorilla Glass 5. It is also made of ceramic. The glass back weighs around 317 g whereas the ceramic back weighs 332 g.
The main display of the Mi Mix Fold is an 8 inches flexible WQHD+(1860 x 2480) OLED panel with a 60 Hz screen refresh rate and a 120 Hz touch sampling rate. It has a 4:3 Aspect ratio, 600 nits peak brightness, and supports HDR10+ and Dolby Vision. The cover display(secondary display), is a 6.52 inches AMOLED panel (840 x 2520) with a 90 Hz screen refresh rate and a 180 Hz touch sampling rate. It has a peak brightness of 900 nits and also supports HDR10+ and Dolby Vision. There is a tiny punch-hole cutout at the top right corner of the cover display that houses a selfie camera.
Xiaomi also tried to provide a fix of what is a problem with most Android foldable phones. The Android UI is not very friendly/usable on such a huge foldable display. That’s why they added a ‘desktop mode’ that turns the phone’s interface into something similar to a computer UI. Like the tablet mode on Windows 10.
The Mi Mix Fold foldable phone runs on MIUI 12 OS based on Android 11. It is powered by the fastest chipset in the Android ecosystem, the Qualcomm Snapdragon 888 (5 nm). This chipset has an octa-core CPU and uses an Adreno 660 GPU. This powerful processor is paired with 12 GB RAM and 16 GB RAM. The 12 GB RAM variant has 256 GB and 512 GB of UFS 3.1 internal storage. The 16 GB RAM variant also has 512 GB UFS 3.1 internal storage.
In the camera section, Xiaomi went all the way to equip the Mi Mix Fold with a 108 MP main camera, a 13 MP ultrawide camera, and the new 8 MP liquid lens that doubles as a 3x optical zoom lens and a macro lens. With this camera setup, the phone can record 8K videos at a stable 30fps. It also supports HDR and Panorama. For the selfie camera, a 20 MP placed in the top right corner of the cover display does the job. It can record 1080p videos at 60 fps which is perfect for video calls.
According to Xiaomi, the liquid lens uses the principle of the human eye bionics to form a lens-like structure with a transparent fluid wrapped in film. This allows it have an 80 mm focal length and minimum focal distance of 3 cm that would usually require 2 lenses. Image processing is also done differently on the Mi Mix Fold. It is done through the new Surge C1 image sensing processor. The processor helps to process faster autofocus, better white balance, dynamic range and low-light capabilities. All this new technology is not on the previously released foldable phones which give the Mi Mix Fold an advantage in the market considering it also has a low price than most.
For audio, the foldable phone has quad speakers (tuned by Harman Kardon). They give 24-bit/192kHz audio. They also have Hi-Res Audio Certification. For vibration, it uses an X-axis linear vibration motor.
A 50020 mAh non-removable battery powers the phone. It has 67W wired turbocharging support which will boost the battery capacity from 0-1005 in 37 minutes through a USB Type-C. The phone doesn’t support wireless charging or reverse charging.
Sensors on the Xiaomi Mi Mix Fold include; side-mounted fingerprint sensor, accelerometer, gyroscope, proximity sensor, compass, color spectrum, and a barometer. Extra features include; Bluetooth 5.2, Wi-Fi 6, GPS, NFC, dual SIM support, and an infrared port.
Just in case you’re wondering if the hinge on the Mi Mix Fold is durable, can withstand over a million folds without issues.
