The Realme 8 launch is set to be on the 24th of March 2021. The virtual event will kick off at 7:30 PM. However, the Infinity Sale will kick off from 15th – 22nd March. With this sale, you will be able to pay Rs. 1,080 but this offer lasts till 22nd March. The remaining balance will be paid after the official launch on 25th March. This will also earn you a complimentary Rs. 500 coupon which will be applicable on all accessories. The deposit of the Realme 8 and the Realme 8 Pro should be paid separately. The expected price of the Realme 8 is around Rs. 14,000 in India.
The phone will be the successor to the Realme 7 and the Realme 7 Pro. This time Realme has decided to bring the top-of-the-line camera technology to a budget price point. This is after the company revealed that the Pro version will include a 108 MP camera as its primary lens. Realme also decided to go ahead a make an illuminating yellow(2nd image below) model which actually glows in the dark. As for the base variant, not much is mind-blowing except for the fact that it an all-rounder smartphone. It has well-balanced specs.
Realme 8 Specifications and Features
The Realme 8 has an AMOLED display. The display measures 6.4 inches diagonally and offers a Full HD+ screen resolution and includes corning gorilla glass screen protection. The phone is powered by a MediaTek Helio G95 processor which is the same processor on the Realme 7. This means if you’re looking to upgrade from the Realme 7 to the Realme 8, you shouldn’t expect too much of a performance boost. However, you will get to experience the latest Android 11 out of the box with Realme UI 2.0 skin. For memory, the smartphone has a total of 8 GB of RAM which is paired with 128 GB of internal storage. The Realme 8 uses a 64 MP camera as its main sensor at the back plus an 8 ultrawide camera, a 2 MP macro shooter, and a 2 MP depth sensor. A 5000 mAh with 30W fast charging support keeps the lights on which again is the same battery capacity on the Realme 7.
Realme 8 Pro Specifications
The Realme 8 Pro is available in illuminating yellow (image above), infinity blue, and infinity black. However, I have to acknowledge that although the illuminating yellow looks quite stunning, it is a bit too bright for most people. The phone uses a Super AMOLED panel that offers a 120 Hz screen refresh rate experience. It is not a 5G device as it is powered by a Snapdragon 732G chipset. It is also the first Realme numbered series smartphone to use an under-display fingerprint sensor. The back of the phone features a quad-camera setup with a 108 MP main camera, an 8 MP ultrawide sensor, a 2 MP macro shooter, and an 8 MP depth sensor. A selfie camera is placed in a punch-hole cutout at the top left corner of the display. The battery capacity is smaller compared to the Realme 8 as it runs on a 4310 mAh Non-removable battery which supports 65W of fast charging. Unlike the iPhone, a charger is included in the box. However, the back cover is made of plastic with a horrendous DARE TO LEAP logo which is a complete eyesore. The phone also has a 3.5 mm headphone jack, accelerometer, gyroscope, GPS, Wi-Fi 6, Bluetooth 5.1, NFC, and dual SIM support.
