In this post, we compare the Google Pixel 5 vs OnePlus Nord. The Pixel 5 was launched in September 2020 whereas the OnePlus Nord was launched just a few months back, on July 2020 to be specific. Both devices ship with 5G connectivity however, the Google Pixel 5 is much pricier than the OnePlus Nord despite the Nord offering much better specs. The Pixel 5 has a starting price of $699 whereas the OnePlus Nord is available for as low as $489. Both devices ship with the same chipset, the Qualcomm Snapdragon 765G but as for the rest of the specs, they are way different. Here’s a quick comparison between the Pixel 5 vs OnePlus Nord;
From afar, the two phones don’t look similar at all. First, the Pixel 5 is smaller in size compared to the OnePlus Nord. Another noticeable feature would be the punch hole on for the front camera. The Pixel 5 utilizes a single punch hole camera whereas the OnePlus Nord sports a dual-selfie camera design and therefore it’s wider. At the back, the Pixel 5 has a fingerprint scanner and a square camera module whereas the OnePlus Nord only has the vertical camera module. This is because the Nord features an Under-display fingerprint reader.
The OnePlus Nord features a bigger 6.44 inches display. As for the Pixel 5, it comes with only a 6.0 inches display. The type of display is also different as the Nord features a Fluid AMOLED panel whereas the Pixel 5 features a standard AMOLED display. However, both displays are FULL HD+ displays and offer a 90 Hz refresh rate.
The Pixel 5 ships with Android 11 out of the box whereas the OnePlus Nord comes with Android 10. Both phones are powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 765G chipset which means they also have the same GPU.
When it comes to memory, the Pixel 5 is only available with 8 GB of RAM + 128 GB of internal storage which is kind of disappointing. On the other hand, the OnePlus Nord is available in 3 different variants. There’s a 6GB RAM + 64GB, 8GB RAM + 128GB and a 12GB RAM + 256 GB model.
When it comes to cameras, the OnePlus Nord offers more lenses and higher megapixel cameras. However, this doesn’t assure high camera performance because the Pixel series is known for its powerful camera hardware and performance. The Nord sports a 48 MP+ 8 MP + 5 MP + 2 MP camera setup at the rear and a 32MP + 8 MP at the front.
On the other hand, the Pixel 5 sports an iPhone-like camera setup. At the rear, the phone features a 12.2 MP + 16 MP camera setup. For the selfie camera, the Pixel 5 sports a single 8 MP snapper. Despite the cameras on the Pixel 5 having lower megapixels compared to the ones on the OnePlus Nord, they can shoot videos at 4K@60fps and 1080p@30fps for the selfie camera.
The OnePlus Nord beats the Pixel 5 with a very small margin when it comes to the battery section. The Nord boasts a 4115 mAh battery with a 30W fast charging capability, but it lacks wireless charging and reverse charging. The Pixel 5 ships with a 4080 mAh battery with 18W fast charging support, wireless charging and reverse charging.
