In this post, we’re going to look at the Poco X3 NFC gaming capability and performance. The device was launched on 8 September 2020 for only $199 which is very affordable. For this price, you, get a Qualcomm Snapdragon 732G chipset, 6.67 inches display, and a massive 5160 mAh battery. In case you didn’t know, the Poco X3 NFC is the first smartphone to run on the Snapdragon 732G chipset.
Factors to consider in a gaming smartphone
When it comes to mobile gaming, some factors are key to consider. These are the factors you should consider when looking for a gaming smartphone;
- Display (bigger is better)
- Screen resolution (higher is better)
- Refresh rate(higher is better but standard is also fine)
- Battery(bigger is better)
- Fast charging. This is not very important but if you’re having a phone with a massive battery, fast charging will really come in handy.
Is The Poco X3 NFC Good in Gaming?
To decide if the Poco X3 is perfect for gaming, it has to have most of the specs in the list above. Luckily the phone has everything on that list. The phone has a 6.67 inches display with 1080 x 2400 screen resolution. The display offers a 120 Hz refresh rate and also comes with Corning gorilla glass 3 for screen protection. It runs on Android 10 out of the box. It’s powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 732G chipset which has an Octa-core CPU and the Adreno 618 GPU. It is available with up to 6GB of RAM and 128 GB of internal storage. For the battery, the phone draws power from a massive 5160 mAh battery with 33W fast charging support.
From the specs above, the phone clearly meets all the minimum requirements for a perfect gaming smartphone.
However, being the first smartphone to run on the Snapdragon 732G chipset raises the question if it is capable. This is why I decided to compare the chipset the MediaTek Helio G90T the same as the one the Infinix Zero 8, which you’re going to see later in this article. It might seem like an unfair comparison, since Qualcomm processors are better in gaming especially due to their high performing GPU’s, but it will give us an idea of what the 732G is capable of. But first, this is what you should know about the Qualcomm Snapdragon 732G;
Is the Qualcomm Snapdragon 732G Good Enough?
According to Qualcomm, ‘the Snapdragon 732G is tuned to deliver a powerful gaming experience, sophisticated on-device AI, and superior performance ‘. This is because the chipset includes an upgraded GPU and CPU compared to the previous generation chipsets. The chipset packs a Qualcomm Kyro 470 CPU with a 2.3 GHz base frequency. It is then paired with Qualcomm’s Adreno 618 GPU, which according to the company, offers up to 15% improvement in graphics rendering. This is perfect for gaming as means improved performance and more fps.
So, is the Qualcomm Snapdragon 732G good enough for gaming? The answer is a huge YES.
