The Huawei MatePad 10.8 was launched on July 30th in an event in China. The tablet was launched alongside the Enjoy Tablet 2, which features a Kirin 710A chipset, and the TalkBand B6. However, the Huawei MatePad 10.8 is the more powerful tablet as it comes with a better processor, more memory and a bigger battery. The MatePad 10.8 is available in Champagne Gold and Silver Gray colors.
The Huawei MatePad 10.8 is also compatible with the M-Pencil and the magnetic keyboard cover which you can see from the image at the start of this post. The MatePad 10.8 chipset is 5G capable and therefore the tablet is 5 enabled just like the Honor Viewpad X6.
The Huawei MatePad 10.8 comes with a 10.8 inches IPS LCD display with a 2560 x 1600 screen resolution. This leaves the display with a total pixel density of 289 pixels per inch. The display delivers an aspect ratio of 16:10. This means the tablet offers a 2K resolution display. The display is also compatible with the M Pencil stylus which really comes in handy especially in editing.
Software & Hardware
The MatePad 10.8 runs on Android 10 out of the box and Huawei’s EMUI 10.1 launcher. The tablet is powered by a Kirin 990 SoC chipset with an Octa-core CPU. As for the graphics processor, the Huawei MatePad 10.8 utilizes the ARM Mali-G76 MP16 GPU which elevates outstanding performance and great energy.
The tablet is also compatible with a magnetic keyboard. There are 4 speakers on the sides tuned with Harmon Kardon for 3D stereo output. The speakers are backed with Huawei’s Histen 6.1 tech for even better sound quality.
The MatePad comes with 6 GB of RAM and 64 GB of internal storage. There are also 2 other models with 128 GB and 256 GB of internal storage. This is quite ample storage for anything, from hundreds of pictures to hundreds of apps. If that is still not enough, there a dedicated MicroSDXC slot.
At the back of the MatePad 10.8, you get a single 13 MP camera with autofocus and f/1.8 aperture. At the front, there’s a single 8 MP selfie camera that can offer HD video conferencing. It’s clear the cameras on the Huawei MatePad 10.8 are just standard and you shouldn’t expect any crazy camera performance.
The MatePad 10.8 tablet is powered by a huge 7500 mAh battery with a 40W fast charging capability. The tablet also utilizes the USB Type-C.

The 6GB + 128GB model of the Huawei MatePad 10.8 is priced at CYN 2,229. That’s equivalent to $329 and Ksh 33, 000. The 6GB + 128GB will go for CYN 2,800 which is equivalent to $401 and Ksh 41,000. The tablet is expected to launch internationally soon.
