The OnePlus Nord has been the talk of the town for a while now being the latest smartphone from OnePlus. On the other hand, the One Plus 8 Pro was released a few months behind the OnePlus Nord, April 2020 to be specific, and compared to the OnePlus Nord, it seems to be the better option.
The OnePus 8 Pro is not an old smartphone and therefore can’t complain of old software or a poor design. The OnePlus 8 Pro, has it all, beautiful premium look, huge display, and even better hardware specifications compared to the OnePlus Nord.

However, here’s a comparison between the OnePlus Nord and the OnePlus 8 Pro. The first paragraph will include specifications of the OnePlus Nord and the second will include the OnePlus 8 Pro specifications. The comparison will only consider key specs like Display, Software & Hardware, Memory, Camera, and Battery.

The OnePlus Nord sports a 6.55 inches Super AMOLED display with a 1080 x 2400 screen resolution. This leaves the display with a total pixel density of 402 PPI. The display on the OnePlus Nord is also a 90 Hz refresh rate display.
The OnePlus 8 Pro sports a bigger display compared to the Nord. The Oneplus 8 Pro comes with a 6.78 inches Fluid AMOLED display with a 1440 x 3168 screen resolution. The display has a total pixel density of 513 PPI and has a higher refresh rate of 120 GHz. The display also includes the Corning Glass Gorilla Glass 5 screen protection.
Software & Hardware
OnePlus Nord runs on Android 10 out of the box with the OxygenOS 10.0 launcher. It utilizes the Qualcomm Snapdragon 765G with an Octa-core CPU. For the GPU, the OnePlus Nord utilizes an Adreno 620 GPU.
On the other hand, the OnePlus 8 Pro also runs on Android 10 out of the box with the OxygenOS 10.0. However, it is powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 865 processor with an Octa-core Kyro 585 CPU. The GPU on the OnePlus 8 Pro is the Adreno 650.
With the OnePlus Nord, you only get one choice when it comes to memory. It ships with 6 GB of RAM and 128 GB of internal storage. This amount of RAM and internal storage is quite enough but it’s also half of what you get on the OnePlus 8 Pro.
The OnePlus 8 Pro has two variants when it comes to memory. There’s a 8GB RAM + 128 GB and a 12GB RAM + 256 GB version. The OnePlus 8 Pro packs more internal storage and even double the RAM on the OnePlus Nord.
The OnePlus Nord sports a triple camera setup at the rear. The setup consists of a 64 MP wide shooter, 16 MP ultrawide lens, and a 2 MP macro shooter. There’s also Dual-LED flash for those low light conditions.
At the front, you get a dual-camera setup. There’s a 32 MP camera and an 8 MP camera.
With the OnePlus 8 Pro, you get a quad-camera setup at the rear. The setup includes a 48 MP wide lens, 8 MP telephoto lens, 48 MP ultrawide shooter, and a 5 MP color filter camera. A dua-LED flash is also added to the setup.
However, at the front, you get a single 16 MP camera, which is smaller compared to the one on the OnePlus Nord.
The OnePlus Nord is powered by a 4300 mAh battery with 30W fast charging capability. It also includes the USB Type-C.
The OnePlus 8 Pro draws power from a 4510 mAh battery with 30W fast charging. It also has 30W fast wireless charging and 3W reverse wireless charging.

Why OnePlus 8 Pro Is A Better Smartphone.
From the specifications comparison above, it’s obvious the OnePlus 8 Pro is a better phone. However, if you’re more into the camera phone’s the OnePlus Nord has a bigger camera. This is why the OnePlus 8 Pro is better;
- Bigger display. The OnePlus 8 Pro sports a 6.78 inches display.
- The display has a higher screen resolution(1440×3168).
- 120 GHz refresh rate display is awesome to use.
- It has more RAM and internal storage. The OnePlus 8 Pro has 8GB RAM + 128GB and 12GB + 256GB versions. You also get to choose between two versions which is great.
- Quad-camera setup. Although the OnePlus has a bigger 64 MP camera.
- Bigger battery(4510 mAh).
- Fast wireless charging(30W).
- Reverse wireless charging(3W).
This is only our opinion, we all have different tastes when it comes to smartphones. If you’re looking for a recently released smartphone, the OnePlus Nord id the way to go, however, if you’re looking for a smartphone with crazy high-end performance and specifications, the OnePlus 8 Pro is the way to go.
