The Tecno Spark series has grown so much popularity among consumers ever since it was introduced to the market. The series however always seemed to have one problem or the other.I also never liked the battery life on the Spark series leave alone the poor front camera performance.
Tecno seems to have fixed the battery life and the front camera problem on the Spark 4.The device has also got a bigger display with a the waterdrop design. The phone comes in 4 colors; Royal Purple, Vacation Blue, Misty Grey and Energetic Orange.
The spark 4 comes with a huge 6.52 inch display with a 720 x 1560 display resolution. The display also features the waterdrop notch design and it really makes the display look quite huge. The large screen is fun to use. I installed Asphalt Nitro and it ran really smooth at medium graphics settings. As for those who like to watch movies, the display won’t disappoint at all.
This is where my problem with the Spark 4 lies. The phone runs on a Mediatek Helio A22 chipset. The phone runs Android 9.0 out of the box. As for the internal storage, the phone comes with 32 GB and 3 GB of RAM. The RAM is actually quite enough but i don’t think it does any good to the Spark 4.
The Helio A22 is not that bad as it performs really well on some devices like the Infinix. The Spark 4 however gets slower and slower as you continue to use it.For a normal user, the phone’s speed might look normal but if you’re used to a more high range smartphone you will be really disappointed. It really painful to wait for over 4 seconds for the keyboard to come up.
The phone sport’s a triple camera setup at the rear. The cameras are; 13 MP main camera, 2 MP camera and a low light sensor. Don’t expect too much from this camera. All i can say i that it will meet your day to day needs. Expecting it to shoot perfect pictures is a dream.
At the front the phone rocks an single 8 MP camera. This camera combined with the low resolution display produces some grainy selfies. The selfies are however descent if you consider the price of the device.
If you’re looking for a smartphone with a good battery, the Spark 4 is the way to go. The 4000 mAh battery will easily last you a whole day.The phone however doesn’t have the fast charging feature.
For around Ksh 11,399 you get a huge display, a standard camera and a really good battery. For the performance, you will get disappointed if you’re shifting from a high end device. As for gaming, only light games can run on the Spark 4 at descent fps.The phone’s build quality we can live with as it is made of full plastic and it is very light.
In the place of the Spark 4, i would also suggest to look at the Nokia 4.2. It might be a little expensive but you might like it better.
